Happy Friday Edna Families–

Try It Truck!

Many, many thanks to PTA for funding the Try It Truck, from the Bay Area Discovery Museum, again this year. Our 4th and 5th graders had their sessions this week, and TK-3 will next week.

Lost and Found:

With cool mornings and warm afternoons, our Lost and Found area is quickly growing with sweatshirts. Please make sure to check the Lost and Found for many missing items before Spring Break in two weeks. At that time, all remaining items will be donated to local non profits.

Food Drive:

Our Student Council is hosting a food drive. We are encouraging all students to participate. Thanks for helping support this community service project. The last day to donate is in two weeks, Friday, April 3rd.

From the Garden:

Happy Spring! 🌸

Celebrate the season with us at our Equinox Bring-Your-Own-Pizza Party TODAY (3/20) from 5–7 PM in the Edna Garden. We’ve partnered with Rocco's Pizza, so you can pick up your pizza there and bring it along—just mention “Equinox” when you order!

Can’t make it? You can still support the garden—order from Rocco’s anytime today, say “Equinox,” and a portion of proceeds will go directly to the garden.

We hope to see you there! 🌱🍕

Plastic Film Packaging Recycling Drive:

The Student Council is also hosting a recycling drive, hoping to keep as much plastic film as possible out of the landfill. Plastic film includes plastic grocery bags, plastic padded envelopes, plastic food wrapping, storage bags/sandwich bags, among other items. You can drop off your plastic film items anytime until May 4th, when it will be collected.

If you would like more information about what we will be collecting, how you can collect and recycle these items at home, as well as questions on how these items are recycled, please check out this link: Edna Ridwell Drive. While we do not promote any particular company, we do promote environmental stewardship.

District Grade Level Collaboration Days:

Each of our grade level teams will have a day spent at the district offices where they will collaborate with their grade level colleagues from the other elementary schools in the district. Each grade level has a day assigned to them, beginning with TK today. While teachers are at the district offices we will have guest teachers in their classrooms. Next week, 1st grade is on Tuesday, K on Wednesday, 2nd on Thursday, 3rd on Friday. The following week, 4th grade is on March 30th and 5th grade on March 31st. Thank you for encouraging your students to be extra kind with their guest teachers.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee Update

March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the many ways women have shaped our communities and the world around us.

As Serena Williams once said, “Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’re strongest when we cheer each other on.”

Let's Get Thinking!

How can we support and celebrate the achievements of others in our school community?

We’d love to hear from you. Feel free to share your thoughts, reflections, or stories with us at dei@ednamaguire.org. Your voice matters. Be part of the conversation.

Message from the Office of the Superintendent
March 20, 2026

Elizabeth is continuing with her medical treatments and began a course of chemotherapy this week. As she focuses on her health, she will be in and out of the office in alignment with her treatment schedule. We are keeping her in our thoughts and wish her strength and a smooth recovery. During the times when Elizabeth is out, Esmeralda Mondragon is continuing to support our team and helping to ensure continuity in our work.

During Elizabeth’s visits to elementary sites last week, she observed students fully engaged in their learning and involved in hands-on experiences that promote learning through explorations and curiosity, including lessons on germs, explorations of owl pellets, studies of early Americans, and a special visit from a service dog. In math, students were also building their understanding of volume through interactive activities. These moments reflect the strong instructional practices and enthusiasm for learning across our schools.

We are proud to implement a new cycle of professional development aimed to support this learning. Elementary grade-level teams are participating in full-day sessions designed to support guided instruction and collaborative planning, providing valuable time for teachers to align practices, share strategies, and strengthen instruction across classrooms.
